The
awards programme helps to bring recognition to the many worthy schools and
individuals involved in Peer Helping
across the province and is open to all registered member schools and
individuals of the Ontario Peer Helpers' Association.
THE AWARDS
ELEMENTARY
AND SECONDARY Recognizing schools which have an
SCHOOL AWARDS
active Peer Helping programme
that has improved the quality of school life and demonstrated the objectives
and goals of the Ontario Peer Helpers'
Association.
One award in
each division.
The award presentation of
an OPHA plaque will be made by the President or designate at an OPHA
Provincial Conference following the
selection. The winning school will be granted a one year extension on their
membership.
LEADERSHIP
in PEER HELPING Recognizing a person, or a group working as a team,
who has (have) demonstrated the qualities of effective peer helping. This
includes superior communication skills, team building, excellence in the
performance of duties, a concern and respect for others, and the ability to
motivate others.
The award plaque will be
presented by the President or designate of OPHA at an OPHA Provincial event.
The winning school will be granted a one year extension on their membership.
This award is open to staff, students and retired staff who are members of
OPHA.
PEER HELPER
CONTRIBUTION AWARD Recognizing an individual or a team
for the development or completion of a project which
results in closer ties between Peer
Helping and the community. It enhances the educational environment or makes a
significant contribution to community life.
The award presentation of
an OPHA plaque will be made by the President or designate at an OPHA Provincial Conference following the selection. The
winning school will be granted a one year extension on their membership.
THE
O.P.H.A. AWARDS PROGRAM
The
awards were developed by the O.P.H.A. Awards and Selection Committee and are
based on the Goals and objectives of the O.P.H.A. Organization.
An
individual or a school may be nominated for ONE award each year. Please
include addresses and telephone numbers of the nominees, as it is important to
reach them quickly if they are selected.
Please
limit your comments to one typewritten page and refer to the criteria for the
award. Your submission will constitute
the only material the Committee considers during the selection process.
